19th Aircraft Maintenance Flying Crew Chief Program, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA

SSgt Xavier H. Sanchez Cedano and SSgt Brandon D. Rios prevented life-threatening risks while performing a window replacement during Joint Airborne/Air Transportability Training at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Through their exceptional vigilance and proactive risk management, they identified critical discrepancies in both the Flight Operations Air Force Manual and C-130J Maintenance Technical Orders, which failed to adequately identify maintenance personnel flying on the aircraft following aircraft pressurization tests within twenty-four hours. Furthermore, the maintenance team members raised awareness with Headquarters U.S. Air Force A3 and Aerospace Physiologists, which led to a technical guidance rewrite for the C-130 enterprise operated by twenty installations. These accomplishments, exhibiting awareness of safety and risk management, reflect great credit on Sanchez Cedano and Rios, the Air Mobility Command, and the U.S. Air Force.
